World Environment Day

On June 5th, 2022, celebrated as “World Environment Day,” the unveiling of the digital guide for the Lakki Hydrothermal Field to the local people of Nisyros, known as the “Nisyros Volcano app”, marked a significant milestone in environmental education and preservation efforts. The public presentation of this innovative mobile application was graced by the esteemed presence of Manolis Koutoulakis, the Secretary General for Insular Policy and the Aegean, who underscored the importance of leveraging technology to promote environmental awareness.
The “Nisyros Volcano app” aims to provide users with comprehensive insights into the geological wonders of the Lakki Hydrothermal Field, fostering at the same time a deeper understanding of its ecological significance. Following its unveiling, the mobile app will be officially released to the public on June 30th, offering a user-friendly platform for exploring and learning about the fascinating natural heritage of Nisyros Island.
