Educational Trip to Nisyros | 22–27 June 2025

We are delighted to announce the organization of an educational trip to Nisyros, as part of the collaboration between the Nisyros Geopark and the D’ Directorate of Primary Education of Athens.
Theme: “Geological Wonders and Cultural Heritage”

During the trip, 30 educators will have the opportunity to participate in the:
Experiential Workshop: Nisyros – A Candidate UNESCO Global Geopark: Actions for Promoting its Geo-Cultural Heritage,
with Dr. Paraskevi Nomikou, Scientific Coordinator of the Geopark, as keynote speaker.

They will also explore:
The impressive “Stefanos” volcanic crater
The volcanic islet of Yali
Traditional villages and the cultural treasures of Nisyros
The Volcanological and Archaeological Museums, and the Paleokastro fortress
The Monastery of Panagia Spiliani
The island’s renowned thermal springs
The aim of the trip is to offer educators a hands-on experience of the geological and cultural identity of Nisyros, which is currently a candidate for inclusion in the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network.
