Educational Visit to the 32nd Primary School of Piraeus

As part of a two-month educational project on volcanoes and earthquakes carried out by class E1 of the 2nd Primary School of Kos, under the guidance of teachers Margarita Dakoronia and Chrysoula Georgakopoulou, a special visit was made to the 32nd Primary School of Piraeus by Dr. Evi Nomikou, Scientific Coordinator of the Nisyros Geopark.

Dr. Nomikou spoke to the students about the natural phenomena of volcanoes, focusing in particular on the volcanoes of Santorini and Nisyros, which she studies extensively. She also presented the unique geological significance of the Nisyros Geopark, helping students gain deeper insight into the Nisyros volcano, its dynamics, and the importance of preserving and promoting our geological heritage.

The discussion also touched upon important social topics, such as the need to increase the participation of women in STEM fields, and the value of collaboration and teamwork among students.
An inspiring experience that left a lasting impression on all involved!
