Tree planting at Lies Beach successfully completed!

Nisyros Geopark, in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Nisyros, proudly carried out a tree planting activity on Sunday, February 23rd, at Lies Beach.
Young and old came together to plant salt cedar trees (Tamarix), helping to protect the coastal ecosystem, combat erosion, and enhance the natural beauty and biodiversity of the area. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part!

Watch the tree-planting initiative at Lies beach come to life along with the deployment of Starlink satellite internet at the Municipality of Nisyros, in this new short documentary by Navarino, capturing moments of meaningful collaboration and environmental care on the island of Nisyros. The initiative was carried out by the Nisyros Geopark and the local “Diavatis” Cultural Society, as part of the “Connecting Greece with the Future” campaign.
The video highlights how connectivity and sustainability can go hand in hand—supporting both the island’s fragile ecosystem and its vibrant local community—while also showcasing Nisyros’ unique character and its bid to join the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network.
