18th European Geoparks Conference

Nisyros UNESCO Global Geopark is participating in the 18th European Geoparks Conference, hosted by Saimaa UNESCO Global Geopark in Finland and bringing together 445 participants from 30 countries.
As part of the conference, the GeoFair gives children the opportunity to discover European Geoparks through games, educational activities and hands-on experiences. They explore volcanoes, rocks, landscapes and ecosystems while learning why protecting our geological and natural heritage matters to us all.

Nisyros is taking part in the GeoFair by introducing its geological and cultural identity to the younger generation. Helping children understand and connect with the Earth is an essential step towards protecting Geoparks in the future.

Nisyros UNESCO Global Geopark is represented by its Scientific Coordinator, Professor Evi Nomikou, and geoscientist Maria Melachroinaki.
