1st Nisyros Geopark Celebration

The Nisyros Geopark invites you to a two-day open event dedicated to the island’s natural and geological heritage.

The first day includes a presentation of cultural activities by the “Diavati” Cultural Association, highlighting the island’s local traditions and customs.
Local delicacies and products will be offered to guests.

The second day is dedicated to scientific knowledge and the importance of the Geopark, featuring:

• Welcome address to the educators of the Primary Education Directorate
• Greetings by the President of DI.K.E.N., Mr. Evangelos Tasioulas, and the Director of Primary Education
• Presentations by international research teams (INGV & University of Potsdam) on their work in Nisyros
• Speech by the Mayor of Nisyros, Christofis Koronaios:
“The importance of the Nisyros Geopark within the UNESCO Global Network”
• Speech by Professor of Geology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Dr. Evi Nomikou:
“The geological uniqueness of Nisyros”

The event is open to all residents and visitors of the island.
