5th Summer School of Natural Sciences in Nisyros

Municipal Public Benefit Enterprise of Nisyros (D.I.K.E.N.), management body of the Nisyros UNESCO Global Geopark, in collaboration with the Laboratory of Climatology and Atmospheric Environment, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, co-organize the 5th Summer School of Natural Sciences, which will take place in Emporeios, Nisyros, from June 1st to June 7th, 2026.

The Summer School brings together scientists, researchers, and participants from a broad range of scientific disciplines, including Physics, Geology, Forestry, Ecology, Meteorology, and Climatology, through a comprehensive program of lectures and field exercises within the island’s unique volcanic environment.

As an open natural laboratory of international geological significance, Nisyros provides ideal conditions for scientific research, education, and experiential learning, while highlighting the importance of understanding, protecting, and sustainably managing the natural environment.
