6th Easter Gathering of the Eleni Groups

The 6th Easter Gathering of the Eleni Groups was successfully held in Nisyros.

With great joy, the Nisyros Geopark participated in the 6th Easter Gathering held on Saturday, May 9th in Nisyros — a unique celebration of culture, tradition, and cooperation that filled the island with music, dance, colors, and emotion.
The event was co-organized by the South Aegean Region, the Municipality of Nisyros, the Nisyros Geopark, and DIKEN, highlighting the importance of collaboration in preserving and promoting our cultural heritage.
The remarkable attendance of both residents and visitors once again confirmed the power of tradition to unite people and places, keeping alive the connection with the history, roots, and cultural identity of our islands. Through music, dance, traditional flavors, and local customs, the intangible cultural heritage of the Aegean was celebrated as a valuable part of our collective memory and identity.

Warm congratulations to the Eleni Groups for the excellent organization, and heartfelt thanks to all cultural associations and dance groups who participated with passion, dedication, and respect for our traditions:

• Eleni Groups of Rhodes – Nisyros
• Mari Gika Dance Schools
• Lyceum Club of Greek Women of Kardamena

A special highlight of the event was the presentation and preparation of the traditional “Melekouni”, a sweet deeply connected with the traditions and hospitality of the Dodecanese islands, which attracted the interest and admiration of both young and old visitors alike.

The Nisyros Geopark actively supports initiatives that promote the living cultural identity of the island and strengthen the connection between natural and cultural heritage, the local community, and future generations.
