Annual Meeting of the Greek UNESCO Geoparks

Nisyros Geopark participated in the Annual Meeting of the Greek UNESCO Geoparks, held on March
18, 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens.

The meeting provided an important opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among geoparks, as well as for discussing common challenges and shared goals towards sustainable development and the promotion of our geological heritage.

Representing Nisyros Geopark at the meeting were:
Mr. Evangelos Tasioulas, President of the Municipal Public Benefit Enterprise of Nisyros (DIKEN), the managing authority of the Geopark, and
Rear Admiral Mr. Kostas Chartofillis, President of the Nisyrian Studies Society, representing the Mayor of Nisyros, Mr. Christofis Koronaios.

Through collaboration and networking, Greek Geoparks continue to strengthen their role as key drivers of sustainable development, education, and environmental protection.
