Educational Visit of Archangelos Junior High School of Rhodes to Nisyros

During the weekend of May 16th and 17th 2026, Nisyros UNESCO Global Geopark welcomed 2nd Grade Junior High School students from Archangelos Junior High School of Rhodes as part of an educational excursion dedicated to the geological and volcanic heritage of Nisyros.

During their visit, students toured the Volcanological Museum of Nisyros, explored the volcanic craters, and experienced firsthand the island’s unique volcanic landscape and active geological phenomena.

The educational visit concluded at Chochlakoi, where students observed remarkable geological formations and gained experiential insight into the geological history and evolution of Nisyros.

Through direct contact with the natural environment, students had the opportunity to connect theoretical learning with experiential education, strengthening their environmental awareness and understanding of the importance of protecting natural heritage.
