Nisyros Dialogues 2026

At Nisyros Dialogues 2026, Professor of Geology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Scientific Coordinator of the UNESCO Global Geopark of Nisyros, Evi Nomikou, dedicated her presentation to the people of Nisyros.

Reflecting on decades of scientific research and collaboration on the island, she spoke about the strong bond of trust built with the local community, whose support has been fundamental to the recognition of Nisyros as a UNESCO Global Geopark.The Nisyros Geopark brings together an exceptional geological, natural and cultural heritage, enriched by its most valuable asset: the people of the island, who preserve its identity, traditions and shape its sustainable future.
