Following the path from Mandraki village towards Cape Kanoni, beneath the steep slopes where the Mandraki castle and the monastery of Panagia Spiliani are built, impressive outcrops of pillow lavas can be observed.
This route starts at Mandraki, the capital of Nisyros and crosses its coastline. Continuing the stroll, visitors can follow the path from the beach at the end of Mandraki, beneath the steep slopes on top of which are built the Mandraki castle and the Monastery of Panagia Spiliani. Fabulous outcrops of pillow lavas, the oldest ones of Nisyros, dominate the coastline. The secret to fully admire this beach is to feel the energy of the waves of the Aegean Sea and listen to the sloshing among the pebbles at the Hohlaki beach.
