Beginning from Nikia, the path leads to Avlaki, where someone can find hot baths, due to a hot spring close to the coast, while impressive layers of black and red scoria on top of lavas can be admired.
The path starts from the west part of Nikia and moves towards the west, to the southern rim of the caldera. At the beginning of the old cobbled path is the church of Agia Triada with murals of the 15th century, while many cottages can be found in the broader area as well. The path ends up in Kokkinos Mylos, a rhyolitic hill with a windmill on top. The path crosses the inner rim of the caldera and offers a unique view to the hydrothermal craters. An asphalt road starts from Nikia and leads to the Avlaki area, where there are the thermal springs of Avlaki.
